APPLE SAUSAGE PIE
Ingredients
1 prebaked pie crust
2 large granny smith apples, peeled and chopped
1/2 medium onion, chopped
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
1 tablespoon brown sugar
3 tablespoons butter
1 pound breakfast sausage
3 cups shredded cheddar cheese
4 eggs, beaten
2 tablespoons heavy cream
Directions
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add apple, onion, and sugars. Cook, stirring occasionally, until tender. In the last 30 seconds or so, add the garlic and cook until fragrant. Remove mixture and set aside.
Add sausage to the same skillet, stirring until browned through. Remove the sausage and spread over a paper towel lined platter.
In medium sized bowl, mix together the cheeses, eggs and cream.
Layer browned sausage over pre-baked pie crust. Add cooked apple and onion over the sausage. Pour the cheese and egg mixture over the apple mixture and spread it so it evenly covers the pie.
Bake at 350°F for 35 to 40 minutes. Remove from oven and let rest a few minutes before serving.
